JMA is seeking a project accountant with some commercial accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. This role is ideal for someone looking to advance into a mid-level role who is capable of fulfilling the project accounting and project forecasting requirements of multiple mid-sized projects or a singular large project.
The employee will work closely with myriad project team members (including owners, principals, project managers, engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, & consultants). Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:
– Project cost accounting including preparation of owner draws, collection of payments, and subcontractor compliance reviews
– Managing invoice & payment process for preconstruction services
– Creation and analysis of financial reports
– Assisting with strategic planning/forecasting of project financials
– Assisting with project audits
– Managing the financial closeout process
– Reviewing owner contracts to understand accounting requirements
– Supporting operations staff
– Assisting corporate staff with other duties on an as-needed basis
Qualifications

– Associates degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent combination of education & experience

– Ability to train, mentor, and supervise junior team members
– Preference will be given to candidates with construction/general contractor accounting experience
